The Wisdom and Grace of Sacramentality
So, how many of us grew up hearing things like “baptism is a sacred moment” or “communion is a sacred, solemn time?” I think that’s a lot of us! And, especially when we are younger, we don’t tend to fathom what that really means, to experience a sacred moment, largely in part because we haven’t experienced enough of them to truly contemplate and understand what makes a moment sacred. And often times, we find ourselves in other peoples sacred moments but aren’t finding ourselves in the same moment that they area experiencing. Funny thing about sacred moments, is we don’t really understand them until we have or experience a sacred moment in a meaningful way that leaves an impression on us, sure we can act when we are told to do so, but that doesn’t necessarily make the sacredness of that
moment tangible, or existentially moving.
