We all find ourselves in times of waiting. Waiting for big things (Come, Lord Jesus) and waiting for small things (Come on, traffic light!). We wait for God's answer to our prayers, and for His guidance as we move forward in day to day life. These two books will shed light on how we wait, what we do in all the meantimes.
Starting January 19th, we will be talking about Mark Vroegop's 2024 book Waiting Isn't a Waste. The tagline is "The Surprising Comfort of Trusting God in the Uncertainties of Life," and oh, how we need that comfort! Please try to get the book and come to that first session having read the first two chapters. If you plan to attend this study but can't get the reading done, remember that the "rule" has always been COME ANYWAY. Come listen. After that, we will read Jerry Bridges' classic Trusting God. It will be a great reminder of what it means to fully trust God in every aspect of this earthly life.
Both books are available on Amazon and more than likely other platforms as well. The edition of Bridges' book that is available now includes an over 100 page study guide, so do not be put off by the total number of pages. The actual text we will read is 220 pages of large print with lots of white space. As was the case with A Praying Life, the reading of both books itself is easy, but the conversations that will come from them will be deeply meaningful and helpful. So again, fight the temptation to think "Oh, I can't do that!" You can, under God's leadership and with the encouragement of this community of readers.
A full calendar will be developed soon, but we will start Monday, January 9th, and end Monday, May 18th.
The Amazon links to both books follow below. Because Vroegop is a new author for many, there are also links to two videos that will introduce you to him and to his works. Remember when purchasing the books that having the same edition as the ones linked make it easier for each individual reader to follow the discussions.
Please come read with us. The texts and the community will be a blessing!
